Sin actividad deportiva por la pandemia de coronavirus, Marcelo Méndez entrenador de la Selección Argentina de vóley masculino se tomó un tiempo para charlar sobre el gran 2019 del conjunto nacional.
A partir de la emergencia sanitaria del Covid – 19 y el aislamiento obligatorio en distintas partes del mundo, la actividad deportiva se encuentra parada y también se postergó la realización de los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio 2020 para el próximo año.
Durante una entrevista con prensa oficial de la Federación de Voley Argentino (FEVA), el entrenador de la Selección Argentina masculina Marcelo Méndez se tomó un tiempo para analizar la actualidad deportiva y también el gran 2019 del equipo argentino.
“Estamos en época de crisis y tenemos que replantearnos metas. Los recursos económicos son cada vez menos, pero el objetivo tiene que ser más grande. La Selección mayor está encaminada, es hora de pensar más en el vóley interno y las selecciones de base”.
“Tuvimos un objetivo claro que era la clasificación a los Juegos Olímpicos y aumentar la base de jugadores para seleccionarlos. En mi cuerpo técnico estoy rodeado de los mejores, pero más allá de eso, busqué la calidad humana”.
“Además, rotamos 30 jugadores y todos jugaron al máximo, creyeron en la propuesta y en el juego que planteamos. Me llevé muchas sorpresas positivas con ellos, dieron todo por la Selección”.
“Los jugadores estaban todos en un buen momento, creyendo y entusiasmados con los Juegos. Todos los países están las mismas condiciones que nosotros, se estaban preparando para llegar de la mejor manera”.
“Creo que tenemos que tomarlo de forma positiva y pensar que esta es una nueva oportunidad para prepararnos. Vamos a poder ver otros jóvenes en la Liga Argentina, a jugadores que estaban en dudas y a otros que jugarán en nuevos países para ver cómo se desempeñan. Contra lo que pasó ya no podemos combatir, tenemos que ver cómo salimos e ir para adelante”.
