La Copa del Mundo FIFA que se iba a realizar en septiembre de este año en Lituania, finalmente fue postergada para el 2021.
A través de un comunicado, FIFA dio a conocer la postergación de la Copa del Mundo de futsal FIFA que se iba a realizar en el mes de septiembre de este año, en Lituania.
El certamen, donde el equipo nacional ya está clasificado y buscará repetir lo hecho en Colombia 2016 donde se quedó con el título, finalmente se realizará desde el 12 de septiembre al 3 de octubre del 2021.

Tras evaluar de manera exhaustiva el impacto de la pandemia de COVID-19 y las recomendaciones del grupo de trabajo de la FIFA y las confederaciones sobre la COVID-19, el Bureau del Consejo de la FIFA ha adoptado las decisión de posponer a Copa Mundial de Futsal de la FIFA Lituania 2020™: 12 de septiembre – 3 de octubre de 2021.
Celebración del 70.º Congreso de la FIFA, fijado en un principio en Adís Abeba, el 18 de septiembre de 2020 en formato virtual.
