Sebastián Simonet, el mayor de la dinastía, contó su deseo por estar en los Juegos Olímpicos juntos a sus hermanos. “Quiero poder retirarme dándoles un abrazo a ellos”.
Durante una entrevista con el medio “Marca Claro” de México, Sebastián Simonet habló sobre el regreso a los entrenamientos con la Selección Argentina de handball y sus sueños olímpicos junto a sus hermanos, Diego y Pablo.
“En el handball volvimos a los entrenamientos, de a poco estamos volviendo al ruedo y sentirnos atletas una vez más. Nunca dejamos de entrenar, hacíamos mucho pesas, pero recién ahora volvimos a correr y cansarnos de verdad”, comentó Sebastián.
Simonet continuó: “La pelota todavía no la tocamos, solamente hicimos la parte física. Estoy esperando ese momento con muchas ansias, hace más de cuatro meses que no toco una pelota de handball y en mi vida creo que pasó algo así”.
El experimentado de los Gladiadores contó como fue la vuelta y ese sabor amargo que vivió: “Volver al Cenard, ver a mis compañeros, si bien no pudimos darnos un abrazo pero estar cerca. Volver a correr, sentir ese cansancio, fue algo lindo. Pero ver el Cenard en soledad, sin gente, con personas que parecen astronautas y te toman la fiebre, fue desolador, duro de ver. Una sensación fea”.
Además, explicó su frustración con la postergación de Tokio 2020: “Personalmente fue un golpe duro la postergación de los Juegos Olímpicos. Yo me iba a retirar de la Selección, y seguramente no iba a jugar más en el nivel que estoy teniendo, porque siento que hasta acá llegué. Era un momento lindo para dejar, pero la motivación y las ganas de saber que puedo jugar un Juego Olímpico más con mis hermanos es suficiente para aguantar”.
Sebastián Simonet sueña con jugar los Juegos Olímpicos junto a sus hermanos, algo que no pudo lograr en Londres 2012 donde Pablo era un juvenil y Río 2016 cuando Diego estaba lesionado: “Sería hermoso jugar en Tokio con Diego y Pablo, es con lo que sueño. Quiero poder retirándome dándole un abrazo a ellos. Sentarme después del último partido en el círculo de la cancha llorando y que ellos me abracen. Es lo que me quita el sueño”.
