Desde el viernes 28 de junio al 7 de julio, se disputa el Campeonato Mundial de Beach Volley, con participación de las duplas argentinas que finalizaron la primera ronda del certamen con récord negativo ambas.
El equipo masculino, compuesto por Julián Azaad y Nicolás Capogrosso, terminó la primera etapa del certamen con dos derrotas y una victoria. 0-2 ante Estados Unidos, 2-0 frente a Holanda y 0-3 contra Canadá. El equipo argentino finalizó último en el Grupo F y quedó eliminado de la competencia.
Por su parte, la dupla femenina integrada por Ana Gallay y Fernanda Pereyra también finalizó la instancia inicial del certamen con una victoria y dos derrotas. 1-2 ante Estados Unidos, 2-1 a Rusia y 2-0 contra China.
Al terminar terceras en su grupo K, las chicas jugaron el repechaje ante Finlandia y se quedaron con el triunfo 2-1, con parciales de 21-17, 13-21y 15-13 para seguir en carrera dentro del mundial.
