Con el gol de Alexis Mac Allister Argentina le ganó a Ecuador por 1-0 y a partir del triunfo de Colombia ante Venezuela, se clasificó al cuadrangular final del Campeonato Preolímpico.
En el marco de la fecha 4 dentro del Campeonato Preolímpico de Colombia, la Selección Argentina Sub 23 se impuso frente a Ecuador por 1-0 con el tanto convertido por Alexis Mac Allister en el inicio del partido.
No fue el mejor encuentro del conjunto dirigido por Fernando Batista, sin embargo le alcanzó con buenos momentos para quedarse con el triunfo en un juego ante un equipo que ya estaba eliminado.
Una buena combinación del seleccionado argentino, habilitación de Adolfo Gaich y gran definición de Mac Allister, para abrir el marcador y el 1-0 que finalmente fue el resultado definitivo.
El conjunto ecuatoriano contó con ocasiones para llegar al empate, pero se encontró con varias respuestas del arquero Facundo Cambeses que en este juego fue una de las figuras del equipo argentino.
Además del triunfo propio, Argentina tuvo la buena noticia de la victoria de Colombia contra Venezuela y a partir de ese resultado el seleccionado nacional se clasificó al cuadrangular final en donde se definirá el Campeonato Preolímpico, con el sueño de Tokio 2020.
